Access Data / Log Files

Important Note: We, the website operator, do not collect any data about access to the website. The preparation of statistics and analysis through log files is therefore not possible by the website operator.

Data Collection by the Web Host

The web host Strato AG (Strato), Pascalstraße 10, 10587 Berlin collects data about access to our website based on its legitimate interest (see Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f. GDPR) and stores this as "server log files".

Why does Strato collect log data?

Based on the log data, Strato creates statistical evaluations on the one hand. These are not visible to the operators of the website. In addition to the statistical analysis of the website, Strato also stores this data to optimize our services and to detect and ward off attacks.

What data is collected?

Customer Domain: Strato records which domain log data is stored for.
Anonymized Client IP: To detect where Strato's servers may be attacked from, Strato collects IP addresses. Strato stores these for a maximum of seven days, which is standard in the industry. After that, they are anonymized.
Timestamp: This is the indication of which day and at what time the visitor called up the website.
Request Line: This is the path of the target address without the domain. If the visitor clicks on an image of the website, the URL "YourWebsite.com/image.jpg" is behind it. The request line then reads "/image.jpg".
Status Code: 404 is the status code that says the visitor wanted to call up a non-existent page. The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority has defined a variety of other status codes that are helpful for error analysis: 200 means OK, for example - here the user could call up the page without errors.
Response Body Size: When the visitor goes to the website, he temporarily downloads data. These are, for example, the images and texts that he sees in his browser. The log file indicates how large this data is.
Referer sent by the client: This field shows which page the visitor to your website came from.
User Agent sent by the client: Here you will find information about the type and version of the browser and the operating system that the visitor uses.
Remote User: Normally this field remains empty. Strato only stores data on this if there is a login process on the website that is based on http-Basicauth. This is a now outdated procedure with which the visitor can authenticate himself to the website, for example by logging into a customer area. However, the vast majority of websites now use a different procedure that works with Javascript. In this case, no remote user is stored.
